ECO Institute of Environmental Science and Technology was selected to establish a network among member states for Trans-boundary Protected Areas within one year.

ECO Region MapECO-IEST: According to the decision of the Tehran meeting on the Trans-Boundary Movement of Biological Specimens and Species which was held on 9th March 2012, ECO Institute of Environmental Science and Technology was selected to establish a network among member states for Trans-boundary Protected Areas .

Consequently, since for the purpose of prerequisite arrangements a comprehensive contact list of representative from all member states with especial expertise in the trans Boundary Protected Areas (TBPAs), was required so several  sent letters through ECO secretariat was sent to all member states, and up to now Up to now Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan and Republic of Turkey have introduced their National Focal Points to the ECO Secretariat.

Some national briefed reports for biodiversity in Iran, Turkey and Afghanistan was also prepared which is available in the website of the institute.
