The Project Development Consultation Workshop "Combating desertification with a special emphasis on dust haze and sand storm in the ECO region" opened on Wednesday 5 July 2017 at the ECO Secretariat in Tehran.
ECO-IEST: The Project Development Consultation Workshop "Combating desertification with a special emphasis on dust haze and sand storm in the ECO region" opened on Wednesday 5 July 2017 at the ECO Secretariat in Tehran.

The Meeting is attending by the delegations of the Member States namely; Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkey and representatives from the United Nations Economic, Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB). 
The Workshop was jointly inaugurated by the ECO Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Seyed Jalaledin Alavi Sabzevari and the ECO Director of Energy, Minerals and Environment, Mr. Fuad Farzalibeyov. ECO Deputy Secretary General in his inaugural remarks underscored the importance of the cooperation between member states to improve knowledge and exchange experiences for combating like issues that threaten us in the region.

At the opening session Dr Asghar Mohammadi Fazel, President of the ECO Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ECO-IEST) delivered a statement containing background status of the project on "Combating desertification with a special emphasis on dust haze and sand storm in the ECO region". (The full text of this statement will be released in the next news.) He also thanked of the ECO Secretariat for the commendable efforts in supporting the process and convening the workshop.
During these two days of the workshop, the ECO delegations will review and discuss on the weaknesses and strengths of the project implementation in the ECO region and exchange their information and experiences.
