A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on future cooperation was signed between Iran and Uzbekistan Foreign ministers on Tuesday 17 October 2017.
ECO-IEST: On Tuesday 17 October 2017, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on future cooperation was signed between Iran and Uzbekistan Foreign ministers.
Uzbek Minister of Foreign Miniser Abdulaziz Kamilov who is visiting Iran met with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Pointing to the age-old relations between the two countries, Zarif urged enhancing bilateral ties in all spheres.

The Uzbek foreign minister, for his part, said that due to the importance of the relations between the two countries, some senior officials of gas and oil, and trade sectors of Uzbekistan are accompanying him during his visit to Iran.

The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation in tourism, automobile industry, countering terrorism and extremism, holding joint economic committee, establishing direct flights, and transit issues.

Regional developments, including in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria were among other issues that Iran and Uzbekistan Foreign Ministers discussed. The meeting was followed by signing the memorandum of understanding on future cooperation between the two countries' ministries of foreign affairs.
 
During his three-day visit, Komilov is scheduled to meet his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani and some other Iranian ministers, Qasemi said.

He said that the visit by the Uzbek Foreign Minister is an important step in developing all-out ties between Iran and Uzbekistan.
