ECO-IEST: Kyrgyzstan will host the Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Forum again. The announcement was made at the international forum on protection of snow leopard in New York on March 6, the State Environmental and Forestry Protection Agency said.
Director of the Agency Abdykalyk Rustamov took part in the forum. In New York, he also met with Secretary of CITES John Scanlon, CEO of the Global Wild Cat Conservation Organization Frédéric Launay, and representatives of the World Conservation Society.

"The Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Forum held in Kyrgyzstan in 2013 and 2017 allowed the countries of the snow leopard habitat to discuss the existing problems jointly with the international partners and take measures to preserve the population of these rare cats," said Rustamov.

International forum backed by the UN will give a powerful momentum for stepping up global efforts aimed at preserving wild cats, including the snow leopards, he added.

"Today, the conservation and increase in the snow leopard population is one of the main tasks for all of us," Rustamov said reiterating Kyrgyzstan's readiness to host Global Snow Leopard & Ecosystem Protection Forum.
