It also makes necessary preparations for decisions to be taken by the Council of Ministers. Permanent Representatives/Ambassadors of the Member States who are accredited to the ECO are members of the CPR which meets as often as necessary under the chairpersonship of the representative of the Member State holding the chairpersonship of the Council of Ministers.

The ECO is a Eurasian political and economic intergovernmental organization which was founded in 1984 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. It provides a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade and investment opportunities.

The ECO is an ad hoc organization under the United Nations Charter. The objective is to establish a single market for goods and services, much like the European Union. The ECO’s secretariat and cultural department are located in Iran, its economic bureau is in Turkey and its scientific bureau is in Pakistan.
